I partnered with SDRV Resort to build their brand and consider a creative strategy across their marketing and web. The health concerns of conventional travel and trends of older millennials toward going west meant that SDRV Resort was positioned to take advantage of an opportunity. I built their brand on the pillars of “Leisure, Adventure, Familiar, and Free”, and gave art direction for their marketing materials to tell a brand story about travel across the vast American landscape.
I built their wordmark using humanistic sans serifs that call to the americana in their brand, while playing with a tension in the brand typography between the visual language of mid century americana signage and luxury hospitality. Collaborating with the UX designer, I designed their visual digital ecosystem with the goal oriented patterns driving the user journey, and leveraged vintage styled photography and cultural reference for telling the story. The brand saw record growth in 2020 as well as growth in the target millennial demographic.
